Teen Art Show 2026
The South Coastal Library invites teens age 12 – 18 To submit their original 2D & 3D artwork!
Details:
- When: Enter before 6 pm on July 6, 2026
- Where: South Coastal Library
43 Kent Ave, Bethany Beach, DE 19930 - Who: Teens, must be age 12-18 by July 6, 2026.
- How: Complete entry form, and tape it to the back of your artwork. (Print legibly, or your name card will be wrong!) Do not put your name on the front of your artwork! Artists will be divided into Junior & Senior Divisions based on age on 7/6/26.
- Why: To show off your talent, and possibly win a Michaels craft store gift certificate worth up to $75!
Guidelines:
- All art must be your original work. Computer-generated artwork and photography will not be accepted.
- Artwork may be any medium (see #1) and:
2D (no larger than 3 ft. x 3 ft.)
3D (no larger than 2 cubic ft. and 25 lbs.) - Artwork will be on display in the Teen section of the library through 8/8/26, and may NOT contain any obscene or offensive language or imagery.
- Entries will be judged by local professional artists, and gift certificates to Michaels Craft Store and other prizes will be awarded to the artists of the 3 best overall entries (limit of one monetary prize per artist) within the senior and junior divisions at the Teen Art Show Awards, 6 pm on 7/22/26.
The public will also select one People’s Choice award in each division.

New Zealand Pen Pal Program
Thanks to a partnership between South Coastal Library, Kent County Library, and Wellington City Libraries, you can now have the opportunity to connect with a New Zealander!
This is a fun way to learn about another country and make a new friend. We handle all the international postage – you bring in and pick up your letters at the library.
How to sign up:
- Fill out a registration form. Registration forms are available at the library and online. Click here to register online. Parental permission and signature is needed for anyone to participate under the age of 18. Please register all persons under 18 in person at the library.
- Wait! After you are registered, library staff will work to match you with your New Zealand pen pal! Please be patient.
- Get matched! You will be notified with the full name of your pen pal and some basic information. Please use their full name when addressing envelopes!
How the program works:
- Write your letter and drop it off at your library. Be sure to address it clearly!
- When your letter arrives from New Zealand, you’ll be notified! Just stop in to the library to pick it up!
- Respond to your pen pal and write another letter! Drop it off again and we’ll send it to New Zealand for you! Your return letter will come back to us, just as before.
- We will be sending and receiving monthly packages of letters! Continue your correspondence with your pen pal each month!
We encourage participants to use caution when/if including personal information in their letters.
Social Equity Championship!
Join Delaware Libraries and YWCA Delaware and become a Social Justice Champion in 2022!
It’s easy to register for the championship and you earn a badge just for taking the time to do that.
Each month there will be various activities. Complete the required number of those activities and you earn a badge for that month!
For starters, your personal growth and the changes you can
make in the realm of social justice! Plus, there will be some cool
prizes at the end of the year.
