Books to Go (Contactless pick-up of Holds)

Starting June 15, 2020

South Coastal Library is safely and responsibly reinstating library services to the public. Starting June 15, we will offer contactless pick-up of holds in our lobby. At this time the physical library must remain closed.

Books to Go & Phone Service Hours:

Monday – Thursday: 10 am to 6 pm
Friday: 10 am to 4 pm
Saturday: 10 am to 3 pm

How does it work?

Procedure:

  • Place your items on hold via the Delaware Library Catalog, the DLC Mobile App or give us a call at (302) 539-5231. Need help using the online catalog and accessing your account? Watch our brief 5 minute video.
  • When your items are available, a staff member will contact you via phone to schedule a lobby pickup time. If we missed you, please give us a call back to schedule an appointment. 
  • Visit the library at your scheduled pickup time and come into the lobby to pick up your holds. Please remember to wear your mask and follow social distancing guidelines. There is a limit of 4 patrons in the lobby at a given time. If the lobby is currently occupied, please wait outside for your turn. 
  • Patrons requesting items at other Delaware Libraries via transit may experience increased wait times to safely quarantine and handle materials. In addition, due to precautions, decreased library hours, and Covid-19 concerns, county transit of books has been limited to once a week. We thank you for your patience and support.

Returning items?

  • Please deposit all library returns into our outside book drop. Items will remain on your account for at least 72 hours to allow for quarantining and sanitizing of materials. 
  • There are no late fees for overdue items through Labor Day.

When will the library reopen?

  • Sussex County Government and Sussex County Libraries are working to safely reopen to the public. Opening the book drop and beginning our Books To Go Pickup Service are the first steps towards reinstating library services. We do not have an official reopening date as of yet. Please check our website, Facebook and Sussex Libraries for the latest information on reopening and phased services.

Why are the items I returned still on my account?

  • Please allow at least 72 hours for items to be checked in and removed from your account. We need this time to quarantine materials and safely sanitize materials for reuse.
